Vox Night Train SRV Option
Product Details

It's no secret that Stevie played his amps cranked and preferred a little cleaner sound from the front end allowing you to hear more power tube breakup. This kit uses a JJ 5751 for the input tube which is in-between an ECC81 and an ECC83S in gain, a standard ECC83S for V2 and a matched pair of JJ EL84's for the power section.

Just let us know in the comments section if you're looking for an early breakup, a moderate breakup or a later breakup for more headroom in which case we will choose the coolest grades we have available for the power tubes.

These amps use a cathodyne phase inverter so no need for a balanced PI tube. The 5751 is located closest to the input jack.
These amps are cathode biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
