Looking for the smoothest richest tone you can get? This kit uses a matched pair of the JJ EL84's for power along with three Gold pin ECC83S's for V1, V2 and V3, one standard ECC83S for V5 along with a balanced Gold pin ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4. Very smooth and rich!

Just let us know in the comments section if you're looking for an early breakup, a moderate breakup or a later breakup for more headroom in which case we will choose the coolest grades we have available for the power tubes.

The Balanced Gold Pin ECC83S is located in V4 farthest from the input jack and the standard ECC83S in V5 in the back row with the power tubes.

These amps are fixed biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. A cooler grade of EL84’s will give you more clean headroom, whereas a warmer grade will give you earlier breakup. If you order online, leave us a note in the comments section letting us know your headroom preference (max headroom, middle of the road or early breakup).
