Fender Supersonic 22 Full Retube Kits. Regardless of your style and application we have you covered!
All of our Fender Supersonic 22 full Retube Kits are designed specifically for these amps. Every kit is configured to provide a specific sound/experience.
All you need to adjust the bias on a these amps is a multimeter and you can use the test points #40 and #41 to measure the bias in Millivolts. You can also use a bias probe and digital multimeter to do the job or the Eurotubes “Pro One”.
We typically bias the JJ 6V6S’s in these amps to between 22 to as high as 28mA. If you use the test points you can use the HotRod Deluxe bias video for reference. The procedure is the same but the test point locations are different.
The Standard Retube Kit is as close to OEM as possible. Maintaining the amps stock level of headroom and gain while providing a warm but even handed overall sound. The kit includes one matched pair of JJ 6V6S’s, four Standard ECC83S’s for V1, V2, V4. One Standard JJ ECC81 for V3, and one current Balanced JJ ECC81 for the phase inverter in V5, closest to the power tubes.
The High Gain Option Retube Kit This kit uses a matched pair of the JJ 6V6S’s for power, two Handpicked High Gain ECC83S’s for V1 and V2, a standard ECC83S for V4, a standard ECC81 for V3 and a current balanced ECC81 for the phase inverter in V5 closest to the power tubes.
The Gold Pin Retube Kit uses the JJ ECC83S Gold Pin variants to provide a smoother, creamier, and more singing overall sound. This option is less aggressive and has less “teeth” when driven hard. If you like a classic raunchy gritty overdriven tone, we recommend looking elsewhere… If sweet, open, and more refined is what you’re after this kit will do it. The kit includes one matched pair of JJ 6V6S’s, four Standard Gold Pin ECC83S’s for V1, V2, V4. One Standard Gold Pin JJ ECC81 for V3, and one current Balanced Gold Pin JJ ECC81 for the phase inverter in V5, closest to the power tubes.
The SRV Retube Kit uses the JJ 5751 in the V1 position. The JJ 5751 is a purpose built low gain 12AX7/ECC83 substitute. Stevie famously used these to eek out a little extra clean headroom, and you can too. Expect about a 25% reduction in gain, which is like having an extra click on the dial before breakup sets in. Great for clean players and pedal users. The kit includes one matched pair of JJ 6V6S’s, one JJ 5751 for V1, three Standard ECC83S’s for V2, V4. One Standard JJ ECC81 for V3, and one current Balanced JJ ECC81 for the phase inverter in V5, closest to the power tubes.
