All of our Fender Prosonic Head full Retube Kits are designed specifically for these amps. Every kit is configured to provide a specific sound/experience. The power tubes are the JJ 6L6GC’s.
Bias Info: These amps are cathode biased extremely hot in the Tube-A Mode. Because of this we select our 6L6GC’s in a cooler grade range specifically for these amps. This improves tube life and helps retain a slightly better dynamic response at high volumes. The Tube-A/B and SS-A/B modes are adjustable bias. Unless you play the amp exclusively in the Tube-A mode, the bias should be checked and adjusted as necessary anytime you swap power tubes. All you need to adjust the bias on a Prosonic is a bias probe and a multimeter or the Eurotubes “Pro One”. You can use the “Generic JCM800” bias video for reference. While the Prosonic is quite different, the process and tools are identical. We typically bias Prosonic’s in the SS-A/B mode between 36 to 44mA with the JJ 6L6GC’s. The bias pot is located inside the chassis.
The Standard Retube Kit is as close to OEM as possible. Maintaining the amps stock level of headroom and gain while providing a warm but even handed overall sound. The kit includes one matched pair of JJ 6L6GC’s, one GZ34 Rectifier, three Standard ECC83S’s for V1, V2, V3 and one current Balanced JJ ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4, Closest to the power tubes.
The Gold Pin Retube Kit this kit includes the JJ ECC83S Gold Pin variants to provide a smoother, creamier, and more singing overall sound. This option is less aggressive and has less “teeth” when driven hard. If you like a classic raunchy gritty overdriven tone, we recommend looking elsewhere… If sweet, open, and more refined is what you’re after this kit will do it. The kit includes one matched pair 6L6GC’s, one GZ34 Rectifier, three Standard Gold Pin ECC83S’s for V1, V2, V3 and one current Balanced Gold Pin JJ ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4, closest to the power tubes.
The High Gain Retube Kit uses our hand picked high gain selected JJ ECC83S’s. If you’re looking for maximum crunch and grind this is where you want to be. Sonically this setup is very similar to our Standard Retube Kit but with a little extra gain on tap. This kit uses a matched pair of the 6L6GC’s, a JJ GZ34, two Handpicked High Gain ECC83S’s for V1 and V2, one standard ECC83S for V3 and one balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4, closest to the power tubes.
The Low Gain Retube Kit This kit leaves the clean channel as is and tames the drive channel. It includes a matched pair of the 6L6GC’s, a JJ GZ34, Standard ECC83S’s for V1, and V3. One ECC832 for V2 to drop the gain along with a balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4, closest to the power tubes.
The Low Gain Gold Pin Option Retube Kit same as the Standard low gain option but with the Gold Pin tubes for a smooth singing tone. This kit contains a matched pair of the 6L6GC’s, a JJ GZ34, Standard Gold Pin ECC83S’s for V1, and V3, one Gold Pin ECC832 for V2 to drop the gain and a balanced Gold Pin ECC83S for the phase inverter in V4, closest to the power tubes.
