Fender Deluxe Reverb Full Retube Kits. One of the all time classics. Regardless of your style and application we have you covered!
These kits are specific to the original Blackface Deluxe Reverb with the 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier, the 65′ Deluxe Reverb Reissue, and the 68′ Deluxe Reverb Reissue. If you have a Silverface Deluxe Reverb, or transitional Deluxe Reverb with a factory 5U4GB rectifier, please use our Silverface specific Deluxe Reverb kits.
All of our Fender Deluxe Reverb full Retube Kits are designed specifically for these amps. Every kit is configured to provide a specific sound/experience. All of our Deluxe kits use the Double Mica version of JJ’s 6V6S. The Double Mica modified JJ 6V6S-DM has no effect on the sonics of the tube, it simply helps to reinforce the internal assembly to minimize the chance of tube rattle.
The Standard Retube Kit is as close to OEM as possible. Maintaining the amps stock level of headroom and gain while providing a warm but even handed overall sound. The kit includes one matched pair of JJ 6V6S-DM’s, one GZ34 Rectifier, four ECC83S’s for V1, V2, V4 and V5. One Standard JJ ECC81 for V3, and one current Balanced JJ ECC81 for the phase inverter in V6, farthest from the input jacks.
The Gold Pin Retube Kit uses the JJ ECC83S Gold Pin variants to provide a smoother, creamier, and more singing overall sound. This option is less aggressive and has less “teeth” when driven hard. If you like a classic raunchy gritty overdriven tone, we recommend looking elsewhere… If sweet, open, and more refined is what you’re after this kit will do it. The kit includes one matched pair of JJ 6V6S-DM’s, one GZ34 Rectifier, four Standard Gold Pin ECC83S’s for V1, V2, V4 and V5. One Standard Gold Pin JJ ECC81 for V3, and one current Balanced Gold Pin JJ ECC81 for the phase inverter in V6, farthest from the input jacks.
The SRV Retube Kit Stevie liked to use 5751 tubes in the first gain stage to lower the distortion from the front end allowing more power tube distortion to shine through at higher volumes. This kit uses a matched pair of the JJ 6V6S-DM’s, a JJ GZ34, two Standard JJ 5751’s for V1 and V2, two Standard JJ ECC83S’s to replace the 12AX7’s in V4 and V5 and two JJ ECC81’s with one of them being current balanced for the phase inverter in V6 farthest from the input jacks.
The SRV Gold Pin Retube Kit Similar to above, more headroom from the front end and a smoother overdriven sound. This kit uses a matched pair of the JJ 6V6S-DM’s, a JJ GZ34, two Standard Gold Pin JJ 5751’s for V1 and V2, two Standard Gold Pin JJ ECC83S’s to replace the 12AX7’s in V4 and V5 and two Gold Pin JJ ECC81’s with one of them being current balanced for the phase inverter in V6 farthest from the input jacks.
The ECC803S Option Retube Kit The JJ ECC803S is a long plate 12AX7 variant. These are a little lower in gain than the go-to JJ ECC83S. They have a very fat mid with more top-end which gives them a very vintage tone with lots of chime. This kit contains a matched pair of the JJ 6V6S-DM’s, a JJ GZ34, four Long Plate Standard JJ ECC803S’s to replace the 12AX7’s, and two JJ ECC81’s with one of them being current balanced for the phase inverter in V6 farthest from the input jacks.
The ECC803S Gold Pin Option Retube Kit A vintage vibe with more chime and a smoother overdriven sound. This kit contains a matched pair of the JJ 6V6S-DM’s, a JJ GZ34, four Long Plate Standard Gold Pin JJ ECC803S’s to replace the 12AX7’s and two Gold pin JJ ECC81’s with one of them being current balanced for the phase inverter in V6 farthest from the input jacks.
Bias Info: These amps are fully adjustable bias. The bias should be checked and adjusted as necessary anytime you swap power tubes. This can be done using a bias probe and a multimeter or one of our “Pro One” bias probes. Please checkout out our Deluxe Reverb How-To-Bias bias video for reference. We typically bias the JJ 6V6S-DM’s from 18-26mA, with 20-22mA being typical. A cooler setting will provide a little more headroom and spank whereas as a hotter setting tends to have more compression and a little less headroom.
