The EML 1605-V4 is considered to be the flagship DHT from the Emission Labs factory. Capable of producing 20W+ of continuous output power from a single tube, the 1605 has few peers. Designed as a higher voltage, higher gain output triode; the 1605 shares some similarities to the classic PX25 (a house fav), but with a 580V/110mA design center.
We’ve worked with many of the popular high power triodes. From the 211, 845, GM70, to the more exotic 212 and 833. If treated carefully great sounds can emerge from these classic high power triodes. However, in many cases the sound from these transmitting types, can be fatiguing, harsh, and sterile. The 1605 offers an opportunity to play at higher power levels with the sound of an oxide filament system (same as 300B, 2A3, 45, etc.).
If a 20W+ SET amp is on your to-do list, the 1605 should be a major contender.
