The JJ 6L6GC is a modern replacement for all classic 6L6 applications, including 5881’s where space allows. These tubes also hold up well in high plate voltage applications such as Bogner and MusicMan amps.
The JJ 6L6GC is beautifully made and it sounds as good as it looks. The lows are deep, big and round. The mids are very harmonically rich and natural while the highs are thick, creamy and very detailed. This tube has a tight and muscular response. This is THE tube for Peavey, Fender, Mesa, Soldano, Bogner ect.
Our JJ 6L6GC’s are also exclusively available with Double Mica spacers to help reduce rattle in combo amps. All of our “Retube Kits” ship with these at no extra charge. You can buy them A-la-cart, however there is no advantage to using them in anything other than combo amps.
A note for Ampeg users. We regularly use the JJ 6L6GC in Ampeg applications that originally ran 7027’s. Most of the 7027 equipped Ampeg’s are wired up to accommodate either 7027’s or 6L6GC’s ,and the JJ 6L6GC meets all 7027 specifications aside from the extra pin #1 and pin #6 internal jumpers. For all other 7027 applications JJ builds their 6L6GC with a 7027 specific pin out and we generally have them in stock for an additional cost.
After a 24 hour burn in all power tubes are tested for noise and matched at multiple operating points for plate current (± one milliamp) and transconductance. Please leave us a note in the comments section as to what amp they’re going into and or if you’re looking for a specific grade.
