Both of our 20-20 full Retube Kits are designed specifically for these amps.
The power tubes for our 20-20 Retube kits are the JJ EL84’s. The JJ EL84’s will on average maintain the OEM headroom/breakpoint for the output stage.
These amps are adjustable bias and the bias adjustment instructions are inside the amp. Marshall spec states to set the bias at 70mV per side.
The Standard Retube Kit is as close to OEM as possible. Maintaining the amps stock level of headroom and gain while providing a warm but even handed overall sound. The kit includes one matched quad of JJ EL84’s, two Matched and Balanced JJ ECC83S to replace the 12AX7’s and one Balanced ECC82 to replace the 12AU7.
The Gold Pin Retube Kit uses the JJ ECC83S Gold Pin variants to provide a smoother, creamier, and more singing overall sound. The kit includes one matched quad of JJ EL84’s, two Matched and Balanced Gold Pin JJ ECC83S to replace the 12AX7’s and one Balanced Gold Pin ECC82 to replace the 12AU7.
