The JJ Big Bottle 6CA7 is a modern Beam Pentode replacement for all EL34 and classic 6CA7 applications. These tubes have extended lows and a distinct emphasis in the low mids (rather than the upper mid push traditional EL34’s are Known for). That combined with very round and natural highs makes this tube very thick and round sounding. About as close as you can get to mixing an EL34 with a 6L6GC.
We love these tubes in modern high gain Marshall’s such as the JCM2000 series and JVM amps, where the smooth burnished highs of the 6CA7 provide a more useable treble range. They also hold up well in the original MusicMan amps which were factory equipped with Sylvania 6CA7’s (most models).
After a 24 hour burn in all power tubes are tested for noise and matched at multiple operating points for plate current (± one milliamp) and transconductance. Please leave us a note in the comments section as to what amp they’re going into and or if you’re looking for a specific grade.
