This kit contains a matched pair of JJ EL844's for reduced power, a standard ECC83S for V1, an ECC81 for V2 to reduce the gain, and a balanced ECC83S for the phase inverter in V3.

The Balanced ECC83S is located in V3 closest to the power tubes and the ECC81 is located in V1 farthest from the power tubes.

These amps are fixed biased, there is no bias adjustment to be made. The amount of clean headroom you’ll get from the power section is somewhat dictated by the grade of power tube used. The JJ EL844’s are a drop in replacement for EL84’s. The EL844’s will reduce the power output of the amp by a decibel or two.
