Epiphone Galaxie 25 SRV Option
Product Details

It's no secret that Stevie played his amps cranked and preferred a little cleaner sound from the front end allowing you to hear more power tube breakup. This kit uses a JJ 5751 for V1 which is in-between an ECC81 and an ECC83S in gain, a standard ECC81 for the reverb in V2 along with two ECC83S's with one being current balanced for the phase inverter in V4. The default power tubes are a matched pair of the JJ EL84's. With the Customize option you can configure this kit to use the JJ EL844's which will drop the power output a couple decibels (ideal for players wanting decreased headroom/output).

The Balanced ECC83S is located in V4 which is closest to the power tubes, the 5751 is located in V1 and the ECC81 is located in V2.

Combo amps are very hard on tubes because of vibrations which can cause tube rattle with any brand of tube. If you play by yourself in a quiet environment or record with your amp you may want to consider using the EuroDamper tube damper rings for the two power tubes. These are available in the "Related Products” tab as a set of two small dampers and will greatly decrease tube rattle.
These amps are adjustable bias. All you need to check and set the bias is one of our 9 pin bias probes with a Multimeter, or our all-in-one 9 pin "Pro One" bias probe (which reads plate voltage and plate current simultaneously). These are available under the "Related Products" tab.

EL84's should bias up to between 24 to 30 mA per tube.
The JJ EL844's are a 9 watt tube and should bias up to between 18 to 24 mA per tube.

You can use our Generic Bias Video for reference.

The video below explains the difference between bias probe types.
