EL844 Matched Octet

One of the most common questions we get from players is how they can achieve that cranked amp sound at more reasonable volumes. The EL844 is designed specifically to fit that niche and provide an option for players that simply need a little less power to keep their amp right in the sweet spot.

Tonally these tubes retain all the classic EL84 characteristics while breaking up noticeably sooner.

The EL844's are totally plug and play replacements for EL84's used in cathode biased and fixed bias (non-adjustable) amps. In adjustable bias applications the bias will need to calculated and set as a nine watt tube. That equates to a bias setting about 25% lower than what you would use for a standard EL84.
